Aake is a remake of the Tamil movie and is set in two locations, England and India.
Chiranjeevi Sarja plays an artist and writer who is trying to write an illustrated book about a ghost known as Maya who is believed to haunt an asylum in England. Maya is the ghost of a young woman whose husband was cheating on her regularly. One day out of anger she poisoned him to death and was sent to an asylum. But the asylum doctors injected her with test drugs and used her for experiments. They even took away her newborn baby who was her only hope and reason to live. Eventually the asylum was shut down for their illegal activities but Maya continued to haunt the place and is supposed to appear if you call her name thrice and say you don’t have her baby.
Meanwhile in Bengaluru, an actress (Sharmiela Mandre) is struggling with her failing career after her separation from her husband who is also an actor. She is a single mother and is very stressed and keeps experiencing ghostly events. She has a friend who works in films and is scheduled to shoot a horror movie in some haunted locations of England. The ghostly parallels in England and India form the rest of the movie and its mystery.
