Sidhharth (Chiranjeevi Sarja) has been studying in the US and returns to India to stay with his mother Sithara. Sithara is a widow who took over her husband’s textile business and has successfully converted it into a top company, Annapoorneshwari. Her brother-in-law Prakash Belawadi is jealous of her success and money though he also runs a smaller garment business. He is a miser and obsessed with money. Once when he is kidnapped for money he tells his kidnappers to kill his wife so that he can get the insurance money. His miserliness disgusts the kidnappers and they let him go free. Siddharth is not aware of how much his uncle resents them and is respectful to him.
In this situation, one day Sithara is showing Siddharth around the company because is going to take over. A chance accident happens and she hits her head and goes into a coma. Siddharth tries all medical treatments but is not successful. While sitting alone outside a sage comes to him and saves him before the tree he is sitting under is struck by lightning. The sage tells him there is only one way for Siddharth to save his mother. He must take a 48 day vow and live like a beggar without anyone knowing who he is.
